Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead, develop, and coach the Technical Underwriting & Academy Team and implement underwriting quality, assurance, and governance concepts across all P&C lines of business and customer segments.
  • •Steer and develop the First Line Risk & Internal Control Framework and ensure reporting to management, Risk Management, Compliance, and the Group.
  • •Act as a strategic sparring partner for senior stakeholders and coordinate cross-functional initiatives with high business and regulatory relevance.
  • •Own the Underwriting Academy as a cross-line competence platform, building technical excellence and developing learning formats (including onboarding) and an international underwriting community.
  • •Position the function as a central expert contact for quality, assurance, and governance topics for the multinational program business.

Key Requirements

  • •University degree or solid insurance education with relevant further training, ideally with multi-year experience in underwriting, governance, assurance, risk & controls, or commercial insurance.
  • •Proven stakeholder management experience at C-level and demonstrated leadership of governance, regulatory, or cross-functional transformation projects (leadership experience is advantageous).
  • •Strong understanding of underwriting governance and First Line Risk & Internal Control frameworks, including compliance requirements.
  • •Strong conceptual, analytical, and communication skills; able to translate complex topics into clear, actionable measures for management.
  • •Enjoy building technical excellence, learning, and community through the Underwriting Academy; fluent German and English skills.
