Job Summary

Drive the clinical AI research agenda for global health work, defining what evidence is needed for Claude’s safe use in low- and middle-income countries. Design evaluation and validation frameworks for LLMs in real-world clinical settings, develop outcome metrics and theories of change, and build research partnerships with academic, in-country, and regulatory stakeholders. Work closely with research, evals, and product teams to translate on-the-ground care workflows into safeguards and product improvements.

Key Responsibilities

•Own the clinical research and evaluation agenda for global health work, defining what to prove, to what standard, and with whom.
•Design clinical evaluations and validation frameworks for LLMs in LMIC contexts, covering accuracy, safety, multilingual performance, and real-world conditions.
•Develop theories of change and outcome metrics connecting model capability to care quality, health-worker performance, and patient outcomes.
•Build and manage global research partnerships and engage relevant regulatory and normative bodies, including WHO and research-ethics bodies.
•Partner with internal research and product teams to improve Claude for clinical use cases in low-resource settings, grounded in how care is delivered in LMICs.

Travel: Medium travel

Salary: USD 215,000 - 300,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Medical training and clinical practice (MD, GP, MBBS, DO, or equivalent) with direct experience delivering care in low-resource settings and reasoning from point-of-care workflows in low and middle income countries.
•On-the-ground understanding of LMIC clinical and care-delivery workflows and how they must shape AI tool design and evaluation.
•Direct experience evaluating or validating clinical AI/ML tools, including understanding the gap between benchmark performance and real-world clinical safety.
•Deep expertise in clinical research and evidence generation for digital health or AI tools, including what constitutes credible evidence for clinical safety and effectiveness.
•Strong command of the regulatory and normative landscape for clinical AI, including WHO processes, national regulatory authorities, and research ethics.
