Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the reliability and performance of production ClickHouse clusters, whether self-hosted on Kubernetes or via managed services.
  • •Design standard architectures and tooling to scale to dozens of multi-node clusters without operational overhead increasing.
  • •Manage cluster lifecycle as code: provisioning, configuration, scaling, upgrades, and migrations.
  • •Build monitoring and alerting to detect issues before users notice, and own backups and disaster recovery with regular restore testing.
  • •Serve as the go-to ClickHouse expert for engineers and leadership, handle routine database requests, automate them, and lead database-side root-cause analysis during rare production emergencies (including outside business hours).

Key Requirements

  • •Deep DBA-level knowledge of ClickHouse in production, including how it stores, merges, replicates, and queries data; strong SQL and schema/cluster reasoning.
  • •Ability to design database architecture and automation for dozens of multi-node clusters and run/maintain large fleets of database instances.
  • •Hands-on experience running stateful database workloads on Kubernetes in production, including use of a Kubernetes operator (e.g., CloudNativePG, Zalando Postgres Operator, Altinity, or the official ClickHouse operator).
  • •Experience with version upgrades, backup/restore, and migrating large datasets between clusters or regions with zero/minimal downtime.
  • •Strong troubleshooting and observability skills across the full stack (queries/schema, Kubernetes/Linux, storage, networking), plus database security practices (encryption, access control, secrets).
