Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead mechanical design and modeling of lightweight quadcopter structures and subsystems in SolidWorks from concept to production.
  • •Drive electromechanical packaging by creating spatial layouts and enclosures that integrate electrical components into custom airframe volumes.
  • •Build functional prototypes and execute hands-on lab validation including vibrational testing, modal analysis, thermal chamber runs, and drop testing (and assist with flight tests).
  • •Perform structural (FEA), modal, and thermal simulations plus tolerance stack-up analyses for extreme operational environments.
  • •Partner with industrialisation, procurement, and suppliers to optimize parts for plastic injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal, and additive manufacturing.

Key Requirements

  • •M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field (FH / HES / University of Applied Sciences).
  • •4+ years of hands-on UAV design and development experience with physical drone airframes/multirotors/flight hardware, or 6+ years in robotics, autonomous systems, or high-density electromechanical hardware.
  • •Proven end-to-end ownership taking electromechanical assemblies from CAD concepts to functional prototypes and physical production hardware.
  • •Practical DFM grounding for plastic injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal, and 3D printing, with direct supplier collaboration.
  • •Ability to manage real-world physical constraints including structural rigidity, heat dissipation, and vibration isolation.
