Key Responsibilities

  • •Maintain a flexible on-call schedule with no guaranteed weekly hours.
  • •Provide ASL interpreting to increase communication effectiveness for supported departments and directorates.
  • •Work with government civilian employees, contractors, and others to promote communication.
  • •Handle interpreter assignments involving unclassified information that may include PII or sensitive information up to the Secret level.
  • •Become familiar with DoD, Navy, and local NSWC PCD policies and procedures for performing the work required.

Key Requirements

  • •Active Secret clearance, or be a U.S. citizen able to obtain an Interim Secret to start.
  • •Skilled in rapid-fire conversations and providing translation between spoken and sign language.
  • •Able to communicate the accurate meaning of what is being spoken.
  • •Able to translate oral or written language to sign language.
  • •Able to independently determine the accuracy and thoroughness of the translation.
