Key Responsibilities

  • •Install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and document fiber, network, audio, video, and RF cabling, including label and continuity checks.
  • •Install, test, and troubleshoot audio, video, and RF equipment and connectors (connector pins, terminals, lugs).
  • •Install cable pathway systems and build out telecommunication and equipment rooms (cable trays, racks, J-hooks or D-rings, conduit, fire penetrations).
  • •Diagnose and correct instrumentation or system malfunctions and perform complex technical assignments involving communications and data acquisition/processing systems.
  • •Read and interpret planning documents, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, drawings, manuals, blueprints, and engineering sketches; collaborate to troubleshoot failures from test data.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • •2+ years installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing fiber optics and copper cabling (RF, Ethernet), network/telephony, and audio/video systems.
  • •Ability to install, terminate, and test low voltage cables and fiber (twisted pair, coaxial, stranded/solid conductors; single-mode and multi-mode).
  • •Strong knowledge of industry standards such as BICSI, NEC, and TIA/EIA, plus fiber types (MM/SM) and cabling (Cat5E, Cat6, Cat6A).
  • •Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg.
