Key Responsibilities

  • •Design, build, and operate Cognite’s core serverless execution engine and Workflows orchestration layer
  • •Own uptime and latency SLOs, lead incident response, and ensure deterministic Functions and reliable Workflows progress
  • •Architect for multi-tenant and multi-cloud scalability, including scheduling, queueing, and graceful degradation
  • •Define and evolve API-first architecture, including versioned REST and event-driven APIs
  • •Instrument services with distributed tracing, structured logging, and alerting; champion CI/CD and automated testing

Key Requirements

  • •3–6 years of experience building and operating production backend services at scale
  • •Mastery of JVM languages (Kotlin preferred; Java acceptable) plus Python (FastAPI) and distributed systems design
  • •Experience designing multi-tenant, multi-cloud, high-throughput backend systems with reliable scheduling, queueing, and retry mechanisms
  • •Hands-on experience with workflow engines (Conductor, Apache Airflow, or equivalent) and event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pub/Sub)
  • •Comfort working with relational and non-relational databases and observability (Open-telemetry/Prometheus/Grafana) in production environments
