Job Summary

Apply advanced analytics and machine learning to solve complex business problems and improve Zillow’s products and customer experiences. Drive end-to-end data science projects—framing hypotheses, building and validating predictive/recommendation/optimization models, and deploying them into scalable decision-making. Partner with product, engineering, analytics, and data engineering to design pipelines, feature engineering, and experimentation frameworks, then translate results into measurable business impact.

•Lead end-to-end data science projects from problem framing and hypothesis design through model development, validation, and deployment.
•Develop advanced statistical and machine learning models (prediction, recommendation, optimization) and evaluate performance for accuracy, fairness, and robustness.
•Design and implement data pipelines, feature engineering approaches, and experimentation frameworks with data engineering and product teams.
•Translate quantitative findings into clear insights and recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders to inform roadmaps and decisions.
•Establish best practices for data quality, model monitoring, documentation, and responsible AI usage; mentor less experienced team members.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
•8+ years applying statistical analysis, machine learning, or advanced analytics to real-world business problems in a data-driven environment.
•Experience working with large, complex datasets using Python or R and querying languages such as SQL.
•Experience designing and evaluating experiments and/or causal inference approaches, using metrics to assess model and product impact.
•Experience collaborating cross-functionally (product, engineering, or operations) to deliver and operationalize data science solutions at scale.
