Job Summary

Support individual pupils and small groups inside and outside the classroom to help them participate fully in the school day and to support their social, emotional, and physical well-being. Proactively address health and safety, assist with implementing individual education programmes, and help monitor pupils’ progress. Support class teachers with pupil records, displays, photocopying, and attendance, and collaborate with other professionals such as speech or occupational therapists as needed.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide support for individual pupils/groups inside and outside the classroom to enable full participation and support social, emotional, and physical well-being.
•Be proactive in health and safety matters and comply with health and safety requirements, relevant legislation, and school policies.
•Assist in implementing individual education programmes and help monitor pupils’ progress.
•Support pupils with additional support needs, including emotional and behavioural difficulties, and help develop social skills.
•Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records, preparing and presenting displays, supporting photocopying/other tasks, attending meetings, and coordinating with other professionals as necessary.

Key Requirements

•Provide academic assistance through group instruction and individual support as prescribed by the teacher.
•Demonstrate instructional activities and keep pupils on task.
•Monitor pupils’ assigned work by checking and correcting it while in progress.
•Praise and reinforce pupils’ achievements and report pupil progress to the teacher.
•Check attendance and supervise pupils in classrooms and other locations.
