Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead medium-to-large engineering projects (8–16 engineering weeks) with meaningful impact on Wise products and customers.
  • •Own the technical domain of the team and drive how it should evolve over time.
  • •Architect and design services for iterative delivery and future scaling, reducing single points of failure.
  • •Build robust financial infrastructure and core flows for international transactions while maintaining performance and maintainability.
  • •Collaborate across product, analytics, design, and operations; identify and tackle technical debt through planning and alignment.

Key Requirements

  • •Strong Java 17 knowledge and experience with the Spring framework.
  • •Experience with relational and non-relational databases, including query optimisation and schema design.
  • •Strong product mindset with data-driven decision-making to resolve customer pain points.
  • •Experience designing and developing complex engineering solutions with an understanding of business impact.
  • •Frontend experience with a JavaScript framework such as React or Angular, plus familiarity with Continuous Integration and deployment frameworks.
