Key Responsibilities

  • •Contribute to the AI governance policy agenda by identifying emerging questions and translating them into actionable recommendations for governments.
  • •Lead substantial policy projects on priority AI governance issues, with focus on AI assurance ecosystems, frontier open-source AI policy, and international coordination.
  • •Produce outstanding written policy work, including major reports, policy papers, briefings, and materials for senior political audiences.
  • •Develop practical policy proposals that account for technological developments, institutional/regulatory constraints, political economy, and implementation needs.
  • •Represent the institute externally in senior discussions and build/maintain relationships across the AI governance ecosystem.

Key Requirements

  • •Strong knowledge of AI governance and current debates around governing advanced AI systems and the institutions involved.
  • •Strong technical fluency in AI, including how modern AI systems are developed, trained, evaluated, and deployed, and how capabilities evolve into governance-relevant risks.
  • •Relevant professional experience in AI or technology policy in government, policy organizations, academia, industry, consulting, or international settings.
  • •Exceptional written communication, able to distil complex technical and policy ideas into clear, intuitive, persuasive policy analysis and recommendations.
  • •Good policy judgement to distinguish important questions from noise and develop ambitious proposals governments can realistically implement.
