Key Responsibilities

  • •Execute automated mammalian cell growth and transient transfection for recombinant protein expression, including cell maintenance, expansion, and transfection.
  • •Perform protein purification on AKTA (FPLC) and KingFisher platforms using affinity capture, polishing, buffer exchange, and magnetic-bead-based processing.
  • •Run analytical QC using SEC (analytical UPLC/HPLC) to assess purity, aggregation, and monomericity, plus additional QC such as concentration, endotoxin, and SDS-PAGE.
  • •Prepare buffers, resins, columns, and consumables, and carry out instrument cleaning/maintenance and column packing/qualification to keep workflows reliable.
  • •Partner with roboticists and software engineers to convert manual purification and QC steps into reliable autonomous high-throughput protocols, including data pipeline integration and first-pass QC analysis.

Key Requirements

  • •B.S. or M.S. in biochemistry, molecular biology, chemical/biological engineering, or a related discipline, with hands-on lab experience (research/internship or 0–2+ years).
  • •Hands-on experience with protein purification, including chromatography on AKTA/FPLC and/or bead-based purification, from lysate/supernatant to purified protein.
  • •Hands-on wet-lab experience at the bench, including mammalian cell culture, aseptic technique, pipetting, and executing detailed protocols.
  • •Curiosity about protein biochemistry and analytical characterization, including learning pitfalls like aggregation, capture chemistry, and buffer/column behavior.
  • •Strong documentation habits and attention to detail, plus a basic understanding of antibody structure and function (or desire to learn).
