Job Summary

Lead the Marine underwriting strategy and performance for the European portfolio, driving profitable growth, portfolio optimisation, and underwriting excellence. Use data, analytics, and market insights to manage portfolio results, monitor trends and regulatory developments, and adjust strategy accordingly. Partner with Claims, Risk Engineering, and Distribution while building relationships with clients, brokers, reinsurers, regulators, and rating agencies. Own underwriting capabilities, talent development, and continuous improvement of tools and processes.

Key Responsibilities

•Set and oversee execution of the Marine underwriting strategy across Europe, aligned to business objectives and target portfolio performance.
•Take accountability for portfolio performance using data, analytics, performance metrics, and market insights; identify opportunities and risks and implement changes.
•Monitor and analyse market trends, customer needs, distribution dynamics, and regulatory developments; adjust strategy accordingly.
•Hold ultimate accountability for financial results across the European Marine portfolio and drive underwriting reviews with implemented actions.
•Collaborate with Claims, Risk Engineering, Distribution, and other stakeholders; develop underwriting capabilities, talent development, and continuous improvement of tools and processes.

Key Requirements

•Demonstrated expertise underwriting marine risks and managing marine underwriting portfolios, with a proven track record delivering profitable growth.
•Deep understanding of the European marine market, underwriting landscape, and regulatory environment.
•Strong portfolio management experience using data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions and manage performance.
•Proven ability to develop and implement underwriting strategies across multiple markets.
•Excellent leadership with the ability to lead, motivate, and foster high performance across geographically dispersed teams.
