Key Responsibilities

  • •Serve as a legal advisor for mortgage origination, mortgage servicing, and home equity lending, advising on applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
  • •Provide legal support for new product development, strategic initiatives, regulatory examinations, and significant operational changes affecting mortgage and home equity businesses.
  • •Collaborate with business units and risk and Legal & Advisory Services organizations to identify, measure, monitor, and control risks in line with risk and compliance policies.
  • •Proactively monitor and analyze changes in laws and regulations, and advise organizational leadership on timely updates.
  • •Lead complex legal assignments with high business impact, communicate solutions to stakeholders, and engage/managing outside counsel.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree; or 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
  • •Licensed and in good standing to practice law in one state or a territory of the USA.
  • •6 years of relevant experience as a practicing attorney.
  • •Ability to effectively communicate legal advice to varying levels of business leadership.
  • •Four plus years supporting mortgage and home equity lending businesses (including in-house counsel in a large bank or financial services organization).
