Job Summary

Provide technical leadership and design governance for data centre and critical infrastructure civil projects. Lead review and approval of civil infrastructure designs and specifications across earthworks, drainage, pavements, access, and utilities. Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineers and project stakeholders across the UK and global teams while supporting client engagement, business growth, and asset reviews. Mentor civil engineers to strengthen AECOM’s civil engineering capability within the data centres market.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide civil engineering technical leadership and design governance for data centre and critical infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with AECOM standards and regulatory requirements.
•Lead, review, and approve civil engineering infrastructure designs and specifications, developing buildable solutions for site development, earthworks, drainage, pavements, access, and utility infrastructure.
•Coordinate with multidisciplinary civil and technical specialists to support delivery of the data centre project portfolio across the UK and global business.
•Support client engagement and business development through asset reviews and expansion/upgrade strategies within the data centres sector.
•Mentor and develop civil engineers to enhance AECOM’s technical capability in the Data Centres Market Sector.

Key Requirements

•Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (or related) with a strong foundation in infrastructure design and delivery for data centre clients.
•Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE or equivalent), or operating at chartered level with evidence of professional standing and leadership.
•Proven experience leading delivery of complex civil infrastructure projects, ideally in data centres or other mission-critical/large-scale development sectors.
•Strong knowledge of planning, highways, drainage, and utility approval processes, including engagement with Local Authorities, statutory bodies, and utility providers.
•Demonstrated capability operating as Design Lead / Technical Authority in large multidisciplinary teams, including governance, technical assurance, and risk management, with understanding of BIM modelling and collaborative platforms.
