Job Summary

Safely perform construction duties to support highway, utility, and grade crews or on-site plant locations. Duties include locating buried lines, digging trenches, setting up trench shoring, guiding and connecting pipes, cutting and assembling couplings/joints, and using laser equipment for alignment. You’ll also help with jobsite cleanup and safety setups, maintain equipment, keep time/material records, and may operate heavy equipment and travel between locations.

Key Responsibilities

•Operate equipment safely and efficiently and assist highway/utility/grade crews with manual construction tasks.
•Locate buried utilities and prepare trenches by digging and shoveling earth/dirt.
•Guide pipes into place, attach trench boxes and pipes with chains/guide wires, and perform cutting and connecting work using tools and lubricants.
•Set up laser level/tripod and pipe lasers for alignment, maintain equipment, and perform minor servicing/maintenance or escalate major issues.
•Maintain jobsite safety by fencing off areas with barricades and safety cones, complete cleanup, keep time/material records, and travel to/from various locations.

Key Requirements

•Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
•Ability to write correspondences and memos, and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
•Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.

•1 year of experience working on excavation sites; experience laying water, sewer & storm drain is preferred.
