Job Summary

Provide technical support to plant operations by collecting and analyzing plant data to optimize safety, milling rate, throughput, recovery, concentrate grade, efficiency, and costs. Coordinate routine checks and plant/lab test work, drive long-term optimization of flotation operating strategy, and address root causes of poor performance. Serve as an intermediate between Process Technical and Geology groups, assist with metallurgical studies, and support shutdown and troubleshooting activities.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide technical support to plant operations by collecting plant data and measurements and applying solutions to achieve plant KPIs.
•Develop daily strategies for optimal plant performance and coordinate routine parameter checks with the process operations team.
•Coordinate plant and/or lab test work to optimize safety, cost, and performance; perform long-term analysis and flotation strategy optimization.
•Maintain accurate data integrity for online analyzers (OSAs), ensure safety incidents are addressed and reported promptly, and provide operational reporting.
•Analyze poor plant performance to identify root causes and implement corrective actions; assist in troubleshooting and shutdown tasks, and act as an intermediate between Process Technical and Geology groups.

Key Requirements

•Minimum 2 years of experience in mineral processing plants, preferably as a metallurgist.
•Preferred experience in copper and nickel sulphide flotation and exposure to large, modern, automated process environments.
•Strong understanding of complex metallurgical information, process improvement, and control strategies.
•Analytical and cognitive skills to identify process shortfalls and bottlenecks and implement metallurgical testing.
•Grade twelve (12) certificates; a degree in metallurgical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field is preferred, with registration as an Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) member.
