Job Summary

Maintain, repair, and safely operate plant instruments, controls, and electrical systems for reliable and environmentally compliant power generation. Start up, operate, and shut down mechanical and electrical equipment including distributed control systems; perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and electrical switching up to 230 kV. Use SAP for maintenance and inventory, interpret technical data, support shift operations, and assist with training, procedure development, contractor oversight, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

•Start up, operate, and shut down mechanical and electrical equipment, including distributed control systems, to meet operational goals.
•Maintain safety and environmental compliance, including hazardous materials handling and adherence to OSHA regulations.
•Perform routine/preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and support electrical switching up to 230 kV.
•Use SAP for maintenance and inventory, interpret technical data, and communicate with internal teams and external partners.
•Handle dual roles involving control room and outside operations, including monitoring equipment, testing and treatment of plant water, and maintaining plant records.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED plus 2 years’ related power plant experience, or an associate’s degree in Instrumentation (or related degree) with 0 years’ related power plant experience (for Tech I).
•High school diploma or GED plus 3 years’ related power plant experience, or an associate’s degree in Instrumentation (or related degree) with 2 years’ related industrial/process experience (for Tech II).
•Valid state driver’s license.
•Receive a rating of Recommended on the NRG pre-employment assessment test.
•Experience with instrumentation systems, preferably PLCs and ABB/Bailey DCS or comparable industry experience.
