Key Responsibilities

  • •Embed with Compliance leadership and frontline teams to identify automation opportunities with the greatest business leverage across key regulatory workflows.
  • •Rapidly prototype using Coinbase’s existing AI platform, before recommending net-new builds when needed.
  • •Own the Compliance automation roadmap by translating regulatory workflows (case resolution, trade surveillance, risk assessment, policy management) into engineering requirements.
  • •Define build-vs-buy for Compliance tooling, evaluating internal builds, partner adoption, vendor procurement, or retirement decisions.
  • •Ensure automated compliance outputs are traceable, reviewable, and defensible to regulators with auditability and human-in-the-loop controls, and drive adoption through walkthroughs and feedback loops.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of software engineering experience shipping production systems in ambiguous, stakeholder-heavy environments, with greenfield experience a strong plus.
  • •Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications, including prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, hallucination guardrails, and human-in-the-loop design for high-stakes outputs.
  • •Ability to embed with non-technical domain experts and translate complex workflows into engineering requirements.
  • •Familiarity with compliance/regulatory systems such as transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory filing workflows, case management, and audit-ready data handling.
