Key Responsibilities

  • •Work independently and as part of a research team to design, plan, and conduct investigations and analyze and interpret research data.
  • •Develop independent and original research ideas and methods for the design, preparation, and screening of mirror image nucleic acids using phage and/or mRNA display libraries.
  • •Assist with preparing funding applications and contribute to dissemination of results through publications, presentations, and public engagement.
  • •Support running of the group’s research activities through participation in meetings/seminars, contributing to supervision, and mentoring less experienced colleagues.
  • •Contribute to laboratory and departmental research administration, collaborations, and maintaining a safe working environment; support equality and diversity in line with university policy.

Salary: GBP 36,636 - 46,049 annually

Key Requirements

  • •A first degree in chemistry, chemical biology, or a closely allied discipline.
  • •A PhD degree (or PhD near completion) in chemical biology or a relevant discipline.
  • •Exceptional background knowledge and technical skills in peptide and peptidomimetic bioactive ligand discovery and development.
  • •Experience using screening methods to identify bioactive ligands, with the ability to lead, design, execute, and write up research independently.
  • •Practical experience in one or more of: solid-phase peptide synthesis, solid-phase nucleic acid synthesis, phage display, mRNA display, and/or biophysical assay development and implementation.
