Key Responsibilities

  • •Manage moderately complex litigation arising out of property contract Section II liability, including strategy for defense or settlement and liaison with members and counsel.
  • •Evaluate, negotiate, and collaborate with defense counsel to secure appropriate resolutions for litigation involving serious injury or property damage and coverage issues.
  • •Clearly document litigation strategy, budget, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, settlement, and trial decisions.
  • •Represent USAA at mediations, case conferences, and/or trials; review, audit, and approve legal fees and expenses.
  • •Partner and/or direct law firm vendors, ensure adherence to litigation handling requirements, and identify opportunities to improve litigation processes.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree; or 4 years of related experience that may substitute in lieu of a degree, with 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • •4 years of work experience handling liability and first-party claims, or progressive experience in litigation.
  • •2 years of customer contact experience and demonstrated negotiation and customer service skills.
  • •Claims adjusters license in the assigned state or ability to obtain a license within 3 months.
  • •Knowledge of P&C policies and state laws, including regulatory compliance related to claims and claims litigation.
