Job Summary

Build and deliver features for Arista’s Extensible Operating System (EOS), a Linux-based network operating system that runs on Arista switches. You’ll write specifications, implement solutions in C/C++/Python, create and automate test plans, debug failures, and partner with routing and system test engineers. You’ll also collaborate with customer support to troubleshoot network issues, mentor junior engineers, and own projects from definition through deployment.

•Write functional and design specifications for EOS features related to forwarding traffic in internet and cloud data centers.
•Independently implement EOS solutions for small problems using C, C++, and Python.
•Create test plan specifications and implement automated test programs to execute test cases.
•Debug and fix issues found by automated tests and work with the team to resolve larger routing protocol problems.
•Mentor new and junior engineers; collaborate with customer support and system test engineers to analyze problems and deliver fixes via releases/patches.

Key Requirements

•BS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering with 8+ years, or MS with 6+ years, or Ph.D. with 3+ years (or equivalent experience).
•Knowledge of C, C++, and/or Python.
•Knowledge of UNIX or Linux.
•Understanding of L2/L3 networking, including at least one of IP routing protocols (RIP/OSPF/BGP/IS-IS/PIM) or Layer 2 features (802.1d bridging/STP/LACP/LLDP/RFC 1812).
•Ability to utilize, test, and debug packet forwarding engines and vendor hardware/software libraries in your solutions.
