Job Function: IT Operations (Systems/Network Admin)

Key Responsibilities

  • •Build and operate the Spectrum edge dataplane: TCP/UDP connection acceptance and forwarding, TLS termination, PROXY protocol, connection accounting, and eBPF integrations.
  • •Develop the Spectrum control plane: application configuration APIs, provisioning, and global config push to edge machines.
  • •Drive cross-dataplane integrations, ensuring Spectrum works with Unimog (L4 load balancing), Magic Transit (IP transit), and Argo Smart Routing.
  • •Deliver operational excellence through analytics pipelines, observability, on-call, incident response, and technical debt reduction.
  • •Help evolve the Spectrum roadmap as the L4 counterpart to Cloudflare’s HTTP proxy stack.

Key Requirements

  • •Experience building and shipping large-scale, reliable, highly distributed systems.
  • •Strong programming experience in Go; willingness to work in Rust.
  • •Solid understanding of L3 and L4 networking (TCP, UDP, IP, NAT, anycast, packet flows).
  • •Experience with Linux networking primitives including sockets, eBPF, network namespaces, netfilter/nftables, and tc.
  • •Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and backend systems.
