Operate and support furnace process operations to ensure process integrity, quality, and safety. Focus on furnace preparation, load building, furnace reading, rounds, and process flow while receiving ongoing training for process control and auxiliary equipment. Follow environmental, health, and safety procedures and apply Behavior Based Safety (BBS). Use Lean Manufacturing tools (KAS, 5S, TPM) and monitor work-area metrics to take timely corrective actions as needed.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide process integrity and maintain process quality for furnace process operations.
•Perform engineering instruction for department processes including carbonization, densification and heat-treating processes.
•Follow environmental, health and safety standards and procedures; identify and eliminate safety hazards to improve workplace safety.
•Demonstrate understanding and implementation of Behavior Based Safety (BBS).
•Utilize Lean Manufacturing tools (KAS, 5S, TPM) and monitor work-area metrics to take timely action when performance trends downward.

Key Requirements

•Typically requires a high school diploma (or equivalent, e.g., G.E.D.) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
•Experience using hand tools.
•Ability to operate department equipment including overhead cranes, pneumatic devices, vacuum equipment, fork trucks, hand trucks, optical pyrometers, and hand tools.
•Ability to problem solve and exercise creativity to develop and/or implement practical solutions.
•Ability to work a 4-day/12-hr shift, days and nights required.
