Job Summary

Operate heavy road construction equipment on asphalt paving projects. You’ll be responsible for maintaining efficient working condition of the equipment through minor servicing and adjustments, and for performing tasks tied to paving preparation such as grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate sizing, compaction, and screed/string-line setup. Experience with motorgraders, bulldozers, excavators, and front-end loaders is required, with road construction project experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities

•Operate heavy equipment on road construction and asphalt paving projects.
•Oil, grease, service, and make normal operating adjustments to equipment.
•Maintain an efficient working condition of the equipment with minor servicing and maintenance, referring major problems to the supervisor.
•Use knowledge of paving industry details such as grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, and compaction.
•Perform related paving duties such as shovel work, setting string line, and adding or removing screed extensions.

Key Requirements

•At least three years of experience operating heavy equipment used on road construction projects (e.g., motorgrader, bulldozer, excavator, front end loader).
•Prior experience operating heavy road construction equipment.
•Understand asphalt paving including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, and compaction.
•Perform minor servicing and maintenance or escalate major issues to the supervisor.
•May perform related duties such as shovel work, setting string line, and adding or removing screed extensions.
