Job Summary

Lead technical delivery of flood risk modelling and water management projects for the Bristol Water Resources team. Conduct standalone hydrological studies, support 1D–2D hydraulic modelling, and prepare FRAs/SFRAs and surface water drainage strategies including SuDS. Provide quality assurance of hydrological work, mentor junior colleagues, and manage client relationships to meet expectations. Support bid and proposal preparation while collaborating across AECOM’s wider UK&I Water business.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead and undertake standalone hydrological studies and support 1D–2D hydraulic modelling commissions to assess fluvial and surface water flooding.
•Prepare Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs), Strategic Flood Risk Assessments (SFRAs), and surface water drainage strategies including SuDS and environmental statements.
•Undertake quality assurance of technical hydrological work within your area of expertise.
•Nurture and develop graduate team members and junior colleagues through mentorship and support.
•Manage client relationships, clarifying expectations, success criteria, and outcome measures; assist with bid and proposal preparation.

Key Requirements

•Undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) in Civil Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
•Extensive practical experience applying hydrological methods, including FEH, ReFH2, and WINFAP for flow estimation.
•Extensive experience using GIS software including QGIS, ArcGIS, and MapInfo.
•Experience producing hydrological estimation reporting deliverables.
•Track record leading flood risk and water management project delivery, including liaison with clients and regulators.
