Job Summary

Senior R&D Packaging Technologist responsible for leading packaging development projects (primary, secondary, tertiary) within multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, cost-efficient packaging solutions. Supports governance of NPD, VE and SC projects, CAPEX maintenance, equipment upgrades, and compliance with PPWR legislation. Reports to the Sr R&D Packaging Manager; based in Nijmegen, NL, with a strong focus on sustainability and stakeholder collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead and manage packaging development projects with a consumer-first mindset, coordinating with cross-functional teams to align on packaging design (primary, secondary, tertiary).
•Independently drive large/complex projects, providing scenarios and recommendations to gain stakeholder alignment and deliver NPD, VE, and SC initiatives through governance.
•Oversee packaging-related engineering requirements for new equipment and filling lines, including commissioning of packaging formats in new lines and CAPEX maintenance for the existing network.
•Support the Packaging Development Team/Manager in creating more cost-efficient packaging within the innovation and cost-out pipeline while ensuring quality and sustainability standards.
•Coach and develop members of the packaging team and build strong cross-functional relationships to strengthen capabilities.

Key Requirements

•A completed packaging, engineering or science degree.
•8+ years of experience within packaging development in a complex / matrix organization.
•Positively embraces business best practice and seeks opportunities to lead and implement.
•Strong in communication: informing, influencing, stakeholder management, network building.
•Ability to learn fast and perform in a changing environment.
