Key Responsibilities

  • •Build and expand NRG’s trade compliance program for energy trading regulated by authorities such as FERC and CFTC.
  • •Monitor and evaluate enforcement actions and penalties related to energy trading activity.
  • •Review and analyze trader transactions to identify non-compliance risk and advise on improvements to trading behavior.
  • •Implement and oversee monitoring programs for asset bids and trading patterns to ensure ISO/RTO market rule compliance.
  • •Partner with Legal and other teams to conduct internal investigations and to plan and implement training programs; report compliance metrics to senior management.
Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study.
  • •Minimum of eight (8) years of directly related experience in energy trading or a compliance role at an exchange, ISO/RTO, or governmental regulatory oversight body.
  • •Knowledge of trading operations, trade practices, and/or rules and regulations for trading on a Designated Contract Market (DCM).
  • •Understanding of swaps and derivatives in the energy industry and how trading may create the appearance of market manipulation.
  • •Detailed knowledge of major external regulations applicable to energy trading (e.g., Commodity Exchange Act, FERC Order 670).
