Lead the technical direction for the core data infrastructure, shaping ingestion pipelines, storage and orchestration to support scientific and ML workflows. Set architectural patterns, mentor the data platform team, and collaborate with scientists, ML researchers, and product engineers to translate requirements into durable platform capabilities at scale.

Key Responsibilities

•Design and evolve the core data infrastructure that ingests, stores, and serves data across scientific and ML workflows, establishing architectural patterns used by the broader engineering organization
•Build reliable ingestion pipelines from diverse sources (laboratory instruments, public datasets, literature) and own interfaces between upstream producers and downstream consumers
•Operate and extend workflow orchestration systems to run multi-step scientific pipelines, ensuring observability, fault tolerance, and reproducibility
•Define and maintain data models, schema evolution practices, and data contracts for long-term durability and discoverability of data assets
•Partner with ML researchers, lab scientists, and product engineers to translate requirements into platform capabilities and drive data standards across teams

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 192,000 - 272,000 annually

Key Requirements

•8+ years of software or data engineering experience with a focus on building and operating data infrastructure
•Fluent in Python and SQL with production-quality code
•Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, schema design, query optimization, and operating at scale
•Proven ability to work cross-functionally with scientists, ML researchers, and engineers and explain trade-offs to diverse audiences
•Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerized deployment (AWS, Kubernetes)
