Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the design process end-to-end across GitLab's AI suite, from early exploration to polished execution, creating flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
  • •Ship and iterate by releasing complex AI experiences in cadence, using evidence to drive decisions and collaborating with PM, Engineering, and Technical Writing to ship features.
  • •Set the craft bar by establishing quality standards in visual and interaction design and providing constructive feedback to raise team output.
  • •Define strategic direction by leveraging validated user evidence and journey maps to connect day-to-day work with long-term product vision.
  • •Enable the broader team by sharing AI patterns, contributing to Pajamas Design System, and helping other designers apply AI capabilities effectively.

Key Requirements

  • •A strong portfolio showing how you think and iterate, ideally including AI/ML products, agentic workflows, or natural language interfaces where user control, transparency, and trust were key considerations.
  • •Experience designing for AI workflows and multi-step, agentic, or automated processes.
  • •A high bar for craft with deep attention to interaction and visual design, and ability to raise standards across teams.
  • •Experience conducting research and translating findings into clear, well-reasoned design decisions.
  • •Proven ability to work iteratively in agile product development, balancing speed with quality and making smart tradeoffs while maintaining a longer-term vision.
