Key Responsibilities

  • •Troubleshoot network equipment, remove/replace defective equipment, and coordinate with resources to isolate and restore service.
  • •Perform installation/change/decommission and testing for next-generation technologies (Edge Compute, Wavelength services, fiber transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers) and customer equipment (CPE).
  • •Handle AC/DC power installations (on a limited basis), including tertiary and BDCBB.
  • •Locate, mark, and protect underground outside plant facilities using industry-standard tools, without error.
  • •Perform level 1 preventive scheduled maintenance and inspections on network/critical infrastructure equipment, update inventory records, and maintain transactional time logs and reporting.

Key Requirements

  • •2+ years installing, testing, and turn-up of telecommunication equipment including SONET, DCS, DWDM, routers, and switches.
  • •Strong technical and mechanical background with transport gear and critical infrastructure (HVAC systems, high-voltage electrical systems, DC power plants).
  • •Experience in at least two technician disciplines: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7), TCP/IP (routers/higher-layer protocols), and Outside Plant (fiber locating, OTDR, Mass Fusion Splicing).
  • •PC skills and proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, plus ability to learn corporate databases.
  • •Valid driver’s license, attention to detail, ability to work in all weather conditions, and ability to lift 50 pounds.
