Job Summary

Drafts and designs substations as part of the Power & Energy Substation Civil/Structural Team, providing local technical design and CADD support. Create precise 3D CAD drawings, deliver design documents and specifications, ensure compliance with codes, and collaborate with engineers to resolve design details on projects of basic to moderate complexity.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide local technical design and CADD support on projects to produce designs, specifications, plans, profiles, models, sections and material lists for planning, transportation, infrastructure and technical services.
•Use 3D CAD and work with engineers to resolve design details and prepare precise drawings for projects of basic to moderate complexity.
•Ensure designs comply with city codes, state and federal regulations and design standards; verify calculations and interpretation of contract plans, escalating issues as needed.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute project work and adhere to contract requirements.
•Prepare multiple design versions for review by engineers and ensure accurate dimensions, materials, and procedures are specified for assigned projects.

Key Requirements

•High School Diploma and a minimum of 5 years of relevant post-education drafting and design support experience
•Familiarity with drafting and design support principles, practices, processes, methods and techniques; familiarity with relevant codes, regulations and record-keeping requirements
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to explain ideas effectively to technical and non-technical audiences
•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a team, with attention to detail, multi-tasking and prioritization
•Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, and math principles; ability to learn new techniques and perform multiple tasks
