Job Summary

Lead diesel technician role responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections and preventative maintenance, completing light to advanced repairs, and delivering advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical/electronic diagnostics. Manage multiple concurrent tasks, advise and train other technicians, document repair work and findings using company tools (including Karmak), and ensure compliance with safety, OSHA/EPA/DOT requirements. Occasionally travel to customer locations and support shop leadership in their absence.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform licensed DOT inspections and preventative maintenance inspections, and complete follow-up repairs for light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a shop environment.
•Diagnose, adjust, and repair a range of truck equipment systems including electrical/brake/cooling, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
•Mentor and teach other technicians, provide ongoing feedback, and advise them on technical issues and best practices.
•Independently determine parts required for each job and coordinate with the Shop Parts Department.
•Document work performed, upload photos and findings to Repair Orders using company-issued device and/or Karmak, and complete DOT forms and other documentation. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DOT policies and complete required safety training.

Key Requirements

•High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of experience, or an equivalent combination such as a related degree/certification with 5 years experience or 9 years in a related field.
•Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform the job.
•Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
•Ability to successfully complete and pass DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
•Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
