Job Summary

Consultant - Fire and Life Safety Engineer responsible for designing and validating fire protection and life safety systems on building projects. You’ll interpret building and fire codes, review architectural drawings, coordinate with authorities, perform fire engineering calculations, and contribute to reports, budgets, and business development within a collaborative fire and life safety team.

Key Responsibilities

•Interpretation of building code, life safety, and fire code requirements, including ICC and NFPA codes (IBC and NFPA 101).
•Review architectural drawings for compliance with building and fire code requirements.
•Design of fire protection and life safety systems including automatic sprinkler, fire detection and alarm, smoke management, and egress systems.
•Perform fire engineering calculations, including smoke modeling and evacuation analysis from simple hand calculations to 3D computational modeling.
•Prepare technical reports/specifications, mentor junior staff, and contribute to project proposals, budgets, and department initiatives.

Salary: USD 82,400 - 112,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related engineering degree (or demonstrated equivalent years of technical experience).
•3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior fire and life safety design experience.
•Experience in fire protection engineering design applications.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Preferred: P.E. License; REVIT and AutoCAD proficiency.
