Job Summary

Work on humanoid-robot research and prototypes with 1X Labs, turning ambitious ideas into validated technologies that can survive real product and manufacturing constraints. Develop and benchmark innovations across sensing, actuation, materials, control, intelligence, and system architecture, and identify fundamental bottlenecks limiting humanoid performance. This role is for independent, technically deep builders who can originate, test, and translate research into working systems.

Key Responsibilities

•Bring novel ideas, prototypes, technologies, or insights that can materially advance humanoid performance.
•Develop and validate technologies that meaningfully advance humanoid capability toward human-level performance.
•Run rigorous experimentation, benchmarking, and real-world validation to demonstrate measurable improvements.
•Translate novel research ideas into working systems, prototypes, or platforms for evaluation and integration.
•Identify and overcome fundamental technical bottlenecks limiting current robotic performance and create credible paths from early research to scalable implementation.

Salary: USD 250,000 - 300,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Demonstrate first-author or equivalent high-impact scientific publications in a relevant technical field.
•Develop a prototype, system, or technology that materially advanced the state of the art.
•Have experience founding or co-founding a technical venture and bringing deep-technology products or technologies into the world.
•Show a demonstrated track record carrying complex technical ideas from concept through implementation and validation.
•Provide clear evidence of exceptional technical achievement beyond traditional academic or industry credentials.
