Job Summary

Plan, supervise, and coordinate daily excavation and earthwork operations on construction projects. Lead field crews performing trenching, grading, utility installation support, backfill, compaction, site preparation, and material placement while meeting safety, efficiency, quality, and cost goals. Partner with the Superintendent on project handoffs, set daily production goals, manage labor/equipment/materials and subcontractors, and maintain documentation, quality checks, and compliance with OSHA/MSHA requirements.

Key Responsibilities

•Promote and enforce CRH safety policies, conduct daily safety meetings and job hazard analyses, and ensure crews are trained and equipped.
•Supervise and coordinate daily excavation and site development activities, establish production goals, and coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
•Manage utility locating requirements, permitting processes, and Blue Stakes/811 updates as required.
•Verify grades, elevations, slopes, and layout; ensure compaction, trench preparation, backfill placement, and site grading procedures are followed; inspect and correct quality deficiencies.
•Ensure equipment inspections, routine maintenance/repair requests, and submit daily reports and production/quality documentation; review project performance and costs with the Superintendent.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED required.
•Minimum of 3 to 5 years of excavation, earthwork, utility, or heavy civil construction experience.
•Previous crew leadership, lead operator, or foreperson experience preferred.
•Experience reading and interpreting construction plans, grades, and specifications.
•Knowledge of excavation safety practices, trenching requirements, and utility coordination processes.
