Key Responsibilities

  • •Troubleshoot network equipment, replace defective components, isolate issues, and restore service to maintain network integrity.
  • •Perform installation/change/decommission and testing of next-generation technologies including edge compute, wavelength services, fiber optic transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers.
  • •Install and test network and customer equipment (CPE) to deliver end-user services.
  • •Conduct level 1 preventive scheduled maintenance and inspections on network and critical infrastructure equipment, including HVAC and high-voltage electrical systems.
  • •Locate, mark, and protect underground outside-plant facilities; manage asset and material replenishment, maintain tools/test sets, and update inventory/time records in systems.

Key Requirements

  • •2+ years’ experience installing, testing, and turning up telecommunications equipment including SONET, DCS, DWDM, routers, and switches.
  • •Experience in at least two technician disciplines: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7), TCP/IP (routers/higher-layer protocols), and Outside Plant (fiber locating, OTDR, mass fusion splicing).
  • •Strong technical/mechanical background with transport gear and critical infrastructure knowledge (HVAC, high-voltage electrical systems, DC power plants), including right-of-way and as-builts.
  • •PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office, plus ability to learn corporate databases.
  • •Valid driver’s license and ability to work in all weather conditions; attention to detail, organization, and time management.
