Job Summary

Lead the re-engineering of an enterprise data platform built on Azure Synapse Analytics, auditing end-to-end data architecture from ingestion to consumption. Reverse-engineer and validate existing pipelines, models, governance controls, and data processing patterns (CDC, SCD, reconciliation). Define and execute migration strategies to a Databricks lakehouse, re-implementing ingestion, transformations, and orchestration while preserving governance semantics and ensuring output consistency through parallel runs and cutover.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead technical assessment and re-engineering of the existing enterprise data platform across ingestion to consumption.
•Reverse-engineer, document, and validate pipeline logic, data models, transformation frameworks, and governance controls.
•Identify platform gaps/defects/technical debt and remediate incorrect or sub-optimal implementations.
•Design target-state lakehouse architectures and define migration strategies to Databricks while preserving governance and control semantics.
•Manage migration execution, including parallel-run phases, re-implementing ingestion/transformation/orchestration pipelines, and ensuring audit, quality, and reconciliation standards.

Key Requirements

•10+ years of experience in data engineering with platform migration or re-engineering experience.
•Audit, reverse-engineer, and take ownership of existing complex enterprise data platforms (not just greenfield builds).
•Deep knowledge of enterprise data governance patterns, including audit trails, reconciliation, data quality controls, and SCD versioning.
•Strong analytical mindset to interpret existing implementations, identify intent vs. defects, and make sound re-engineering decisions.
•Comfortable operating across hands-on engineering and technical architecture, with strong communication to engage stakeholders.
