Job Summary

Lead USAA’s Property & Casualty risk management strategy by recognizing, aggregating, and reporting strategic and aggregate risks across the P&C business. Partner with senior leaders and the Chief Risk Office to advance risk aggregation, quantification, and qualification, influence risk governance and appetite, and oversee risk program delivery. Manage and build teams, ensure compliance with risk limits, and collaborate with Compliance and the Chief Legal Office on regulatory considerations.

•Oversee and guide an independent risk management function for establishing and monitoring compliance with risk limits and delivering key risk information to senior management and the board.
•Engage senior leaders to assess short- and long-term risks and effectively influence and challenge decisions to ensure safety and soundness of business deliverables.
•Lead teams and set the agenda for a high-performing Risk Management program, including training, coaching, and development opportunities.
•Establish long-term direction for adapting and integrating risk systems and governance in response to regulatory change and emerging technologies.
•Partner across Risk Management, Finance, and the business to manage risk appetite, challenge variances, mitigate risks, and liaise with Compliance and Chief Legal Office on legal/regulatory considerations.

Key Requirements

•10+ years of experience at a large financial institution developing, implementing, and maintaining an enterprise-wide risk management program aligned to strategy and regulatory requirements.
•8+ years of people leadership experience building, managing, and/or developing high-performing teams.
•Superior understanding of risk frameworks including risk governance, risk appetite, and process/risk/control analysis.
•Proven ability to influence decisions at senior levels within a large complex organization.
•Bachelor’s degree; or 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
