Key Responsibilities

  • •Work on a range of tunnelling and underground structures projects across sectors such as water transfer tunnels, highway tunnels, rail, mining, airport infrastructure, and power tunnels.
  • •Apply civil, structural, and geotechnical knowledge to support feasibility studies, optioneering, and preliminary/detailed design.
  • •Design tunnels, shafts, and caverns in hard & soft ground using a variety of construction methods.
  • •Identify and resolve complex engineering problems using finite element software backed by empirical methods.
  • •In time, lead small projects or elements of larger projects and provide support and advice to the team.

Key Requirements

  • •A degree in Civil or Civil & Structural Engineering with a 2:1 classification or above (or equivalent).
  • •Willing and able to work towards a professional qualification (ICE or IStructE).
  • •Demonstrable interest in tunnelling projects and promoting tunnelling activities in transport and utility sectors.
  • •Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external clients, verbally and in writing.
  • •Capability to consider wider financial and commercial implications of actions.
