Job Summary

Lead the Financial Crime (second line of defence) Risk Stewardship function for HSBC India, accountable for ensuring effective identification, management, and mitigation of AML/ATEF, ABC, fraud, sanctions, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing risks across business lines and Group infrastructure. Provide strategic direction and guidance, define risk appetite and policies, oversee risk stewardship controls and systems, act as SME with independent challenge, and lead stakeholder and regulatory engagement.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide strategic direction for Financial Crime Risk Stewardship, including developing and implementing a robust risk management framework.
•Set and articulate HSBC India risk appetite and policies for FC Risk Stewardship, and implement FC Financial Crime Risk Management framework requirements and legislation.
•Provide independent advice and challenge as SME to business lines and Group infrastructure across FC risk types.
•Oversee the bank’s overall FC risk strategy, policy, standards, controls, and systems at HSBC India level, and ensure effective application and controls to evidence FC standards.
•Lead stakeholder and regulatory engagement, including serving as key escalation point and maintaining relationships with regulators in India and other external stakeholders.

Key Requirements

•Significant financial crime experience as a regulator, investigator, or senior financial crime manager in the financial services industry, delivering FC risk management.
•Strong knowledge of a financial crime risk framework with experience executing it, plus knowledge of HSBC business and products.
•Track record in strategic leadership and influencing, including confident challenge with senior stakeholders.
•Experience dealing with regulatory matters and confident interaction with regulators.
•Experience creating, leading, and motivating a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills across executives at all levels.
