Job Summary

Lead mine-waste civil and geotechnical engineering for tailings, waste rock, and heap leach facilities, from initial layout and site selection through geotechnical/hydrologic analyses and construction design package deliverables. Manage geotechnical investigations, laboratory testing, and complex analyses (soil mechanics, stability, seepage, thermal, deposition, and runout). Independently deliver reports on scope, time, and budget, while leading multidisciplinary teams and junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead civil design of mine waste containment and heap leach facilities, including initial layouts, facility siting, geotechnical/hydrologic analyses, and design drawings/specifications.
•Manage and execute mine waste geotechnical engineering projects, including field investigations, laboratory testing, data interpretation, and analysis.
•Scope, direct, and review complex geotechnical analyses focused on soil mechanics (stability, seepage, thermal, deposition, and runout).
•Independently manage projects to deliver high-quality reports on time and within budget, subject to senior review and oversight.
•Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and manage the work of junior engineers; contribute to client relationship and business development activities.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
•7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and geotechnical design.
•Engineer license required.
•Demonstrated experience on tailings management and heap leach facility design in the mining industry.
•Strong soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering knowledge, including geotechnical analyses and technical writing.
