Key Responsibilities

  • •Coordinate with technical focal points at regional and headquarters levels to support immunization and surveillance efforts under WHO guidance.
  • •Provide guidance for planning and resource allocation for Supplementary Immunization Activities to reduce vulnerability.
  • •Support the Ministry of Health and EPI programme to plan and implement decisions to reduce under immunizations and zero-dose children, including in hard-to-reach areas.
  • •Strengthen polio surveillance and response to polio/VPD outbreaks; support epidemiological work to underpin policy formulation and IHR 2005-related rapid response.
  • •Analyze national and subnational immunization and VPD datasets, coordinate capacity building, and serve as the main liaison between government and WHO on VPD and immunization.

Key Requirements

  • •University degree in medicine, nursing, midwifery, public health, sciences, international development, or a related discipline; postgraduate study in epidemiology/public health/nursing/midwifery is desirable.
  • •At least five years of relevant public health experience at national or sub-national levels in low- and middle-income countries, including at least four years in disease eradication, immunization, child health services, or infectious disease control.
  • •Significant experience with vaccine-preventable diseases and polio eradication programmes, including management of public health programmes involving immunization (desirable).
  • •Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement routine immunization services, vaccination campaigns, and outreach to achieve high vaccine coverage.
  • •Expert knowledge of English; beginners’ French knowledge is desirable.
