Job Summary

Join the residential mortgage whole loan acquisition team as a Credit & Valuations Associate within K-Star. You will perform appraisal reviews and support credit review processes that drive secondary market acquisition decisions. Develop scalable workflows using valuation tools (AVMs, BPOs, desktop appraisals), document actionable recommendations, and establish ongoing procedures for reviewing supplemental valuations and underwriting guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform detailed appraisal reviews on residential mortgage loans, assessing accuracy, reasonableness, market trends, and property condition.
•Develop scalable process workflows using third-party valuation tools (AVMs, BPOs, desktop appraisals) to support review conclusions.
•Provide clear, well-documented review commentary and actionable recommendations for acquisition decisions.
•Create and implement procedures to ensure continued review of supplemental valuations obtained by loan servicing for accuracy and compliance.
•Serve as a primary knowledge source for appraisal-related activity, underwriting guideline variations, and evolving industry standards.

Key Requirements

•4–5+ years of progressive experience in residential mortgage whole loan valuations, operations, and/or acquisition diligence.
•Strong knowledge of residential appraisal methodologies (cost, sales comparison, and income approaches) and appraisal regulations (including USPAP, Dodd-Frank, and GSE requirements).
•Experience reviewing URARs, BPOs, and AVMs, and understanding secondary market valuation trends.
•Deep understanding of residential mortgage credit underwriting standards and metrics such as DTI, LTV, FICO, and reserves.
•Bachelor’s degree and ability to synthesize complex data into clear conclusions with strong written/verbal communication.
