Key Responsibilities

  • •Prepare or review income tax provision work monthly, quarterly, and annually, including current/deferred tax and provision-to-return true-ups.
  • •Set the technical standard for direct tax workpapers, registers, and review workflow, determining what must be independently recalculated.
  • •Analyze, document, and refresh complex tax positions (deferred tax assets, attributes/loss pools, entity changes, EIFEL restrictions, and uncertain treatments under IFRIC 23).
  • •Review and ensure T2 and provincial corporate income tax compliance across the entity group, maintaining the compliance calendar and following through with true-ups and notices of assessment.
  • •Lead direct tax audit support (standing file, authorities’ requests, and technical responses) and ensure timely filing of special tax elections/waivers for audit defence.

Key Requirements

  • •CPA designation with deep Canadian corporate income tax knowledge and hands-on provision experience under IFRS (IAS 12).
  • •Experience preparing/reviewing the income tax provision, including effective tax rate reconciliation and provision-to-return true-ups.
  • •Judgment on recognition and recoverability of deferred tax assets, including tax attributes and loss pools.
  • •Direct T2 and provincial corporate income tax compliance across a multi-entity group.
  • •A track record of reviewing others’ work, writing clear review notes, and producing defensible technical conclusions with strong documentation.
