Key Responsibilities

  • •Partner with R&D teams to guide invention disclosures and deliver business-aligned patent strategy, including prosecution oversight and portfolio decisions.
  • •Manage and optimize assigned patent portfolios by evaluating family strength, remaining term, geographic coverage, enforceability, competitive relevance, and business alignment.
  • •Advise on and negotiate IP transaction terms and draft/review IP-related agreements, including licenses, cross-licenses, confidentiality, indemnification, ownership, and commercialization rights.
  • •Support IP due diligence by mapping patent portfolios to products, technologies, standards, and transaction objectives.
  • •Manage outside counsel and prepare portfolio reviews, strategic recommendations, legal memos, and risk assessments; monitor legal and standards developments.

Key Requirements

  • •Qualified Patent Attorney (e.g., US or European).
  • •4–7 years of legal experience supporting IP in a high-technology environment, preferably for global R&D and businesses.
  • •Strong understanding of patent laws, patent portfolio management, IP licensing constructs, IP ownership, and risk mitigation.
  • •Experience with standards setting and standards essential patents.
  • •Appropriate technical degree (preferably electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or a related field) and prior in-house or law firm experience advising global technology companies.
