Key Responsibilities

  • •Design and implement hybrid search strategies combining keyword matching and semantic search.
  • •Tune search relevance by building systems to measure and improve how well the engine answers queries (using evaluation tools like LangSmith).
  • •Manage vector search and RAG retrieval integration by indexing documents and integrating OpenAI embeddings into Elasticsearch.
  • •Optimize Elasticsearch queries and index settings to achieve low latency for complex, filtered queries.
  • •Develop and maintain Python backend services that build queries and process results using FastAPI and Asyncio.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of production experience working with search engines (Elasticsearch), including indices, analyzers, and mappings.
  • •Understand lexical (keyword) vs vector (meaning) search and when to use each.
  • •Strong Python 3.10+ experience, including async/await and building APIs.
  • •Design data schemas for efficient search retrieval (structure JSON documents for retrieval).
  • •Comfort with asynchronous Python backend development and Elasticsearch-based retrieval integration.
