Key Responsibilities

  • •Code E/M visits for Spine & Nerve (pain management, neurology, orthopaedics, PM&R) based on documentation and payer guidelines; include time/MDM-based selection where applicable.
  • •Code EMG/NCS procedures with correct nerve/muscle counts, laterality, interpretation requirements, and proper modifier usage per payer rules.
  • •Code spine injection procedures (epidural injections, facet/medial branch blocks, potential RFA) based on approach and documentation; capture level(s), laterality, imaging guidance, and supplies where applicable.
  • •Ensure documentation supports medical necessity and appropriate history/exam elements; verify diagnosis linkage for accurate coding.
  • •Maintain high accuracy and compliance to support clean claim submissions and reduce denials.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of Spine & Nerve / Pain Management / Neurology / Orthopaedics / PM&R coding experience in an RCM environment.
  • •Hands-on experience with E/M coding including documentation of medical necessity and appropriate diagnosis linkages.
  • •Proficient in ICD-10-CM, CPT, modifiers, and payer guidelines; ability to interpret clinical documentation.
  • •Strong attention to detail and ability to clarify documentation as needed.
  • •Excellent communication and collaboration with clinicians and payers to reduce denials.
