Key Responsibilities

  • •Practice in accordance with the regulator’s Scope of Practice, ensuring completion of competencies and required clinical privileging prior to direct patient care.
  • •Provide safe and compassionate care during antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and newborn periods.
  • •Monitor labouring mothers, perform CTG monitoring, interpret fetal heart rate findings, and recognize when to escalate to the obstetrician.
  • •Perform immediate post-delivery care for the mother and immediate post-delivery care for the newborn(s), including recognition and escalation as needed.
  • •Educate and support mothers and newborns to encourage early breastfeeding and skin-to-skin bonding, and coordinate/educate patients and the public about health conditions.

Key Requirements

  • •Hold an appropriate license to work as a registered nurse with the relevant regulatory health authority qualifications and experience required for a Registered Midwife.
  • •Manage your own professional re-licensure.
  • •Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider card.
  • •Communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written).
  • •Be willing to work across departments when necessary.
