Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead underwriting and appraisal functions across business lines and channels, including correspondent and retail lending, and continuously refine underwriting vision and strategy.
  • •Oversee, develop, and performance-manage underwriters and underwriting managers, and build high-performing credit operations teams.
  • •Ensure credit operations meet production and financial targets while maintaining process excellence, loan quality, and timely, accurate underwriting and reviews.
  • •Serve as a credit SME for complex loan scenarios and manage underwriting pipelines, SLAs, and productivity metrics.
  • •Partner with product and technology teams to deploy automation and AI tools that improve underwriting performance and consistency, reduce cycle times, and enhance customer experience.

Key Requirements

  • •15+ years of residential mortgage loan underwriting experience, including wholesale mortgage lending experience.
  • •Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s or MBA preferred.
  • •8+ years in residential mortgage underwriting management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role preferred.
  • •Advanced knowledge of federal and state regulatory and legal compliance obligations, including TRID, ECOA, HMDA, FCRA, Flood, HOEPA, HPML, and Fair Lending.
  • •Direct Endorsement (DE) or Staff Appraisal Reviewer (SAR) designation required; experience with digital mortgage platforms and automation tools.
